Today we are going to start looking at a very important subject for any website owner which is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). For the rest of this article I am going to refer to Search Engine optimisation simply as SEO as its easier to type.

SEO is such an important topic for any webmaster because if a search engine does not like you then you are going to miss out on one of the best types of traffic you can get - Free Traffic!

SEO described in its simplest form is the process of making a website as friendly as possible for a search engine to read it. The reason for this is that the webmaster is going to want to be understood as much as possible so that the search engine can direct the most relevant visitors to their website.

There are many different strategies employed by webmasters and SEO experts to improve the SEO of a website which I will go into in later articles but please be aware that there are methods which are great for improving the SEO of your website and there are also methods which if employed could cause drastic results such as a website being removed and banned from a website.
